Here’s What’s Happening in August ‘25

Get Ready For Autumn, But Also Other Transitional Days.

If you haven’t gotten your Autumn and Holiday act together yet, August is the time to do so.

August is a transition for everyone, but especially for lifestyle brands looking to maximize their holiday revenue and brand visibility. I always talk a lot about holiday in my posts this time of year - so suffice to say that anyone that offers giftable items, (and just about everyone does) should be mounting a significant pitch campaign this month. Don’t wait until September and October and hope you can get it together. The competition is so fierce and the stakes so high that it’s important to get your foot in the door at the right publications as early as possible.

Here’s what to consider for social posts and short lead pitches:

Back to School ~ we always think of little kids heading back to grammar school for some reason, but college kids leaving home for the first time, or leaving their Summer jobs and families for life on campus and living in a dorm is such a much bigger story.

  • Dorm Room Decorating ~ think Boho, Beach Girl, Cottage Core, anything but boring;

  • Teacher Appreciation Gifts;

  • Tax Free Days for clothing and school supplies in Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Texas;

  • Locker Decor ~ the cool kids have lockers you want to move into;
