Special Days in February and March You’ll Want to Pitch Your Products and Suggestions For

Here are just a few of the more colorful days of note coming up that you can’t ignore!

It may seem like we’re in the throes of Winter, but in our minds it’s already Spring!

Let’s Dig into February! It’s jam packed with editorial and marketing opportunities!

The color red and pink are big players:
As you probably know February 2nd is Groundhog Day - not the most exciting if you’re a beauty or design brand but a big deal for small town retailers. It’s often a day that smaller boutiques open back up after closing for the month of January. Many small towns host parades, special sales, and fun regional events that are great for you as a brand to support.

Don’t sleep on Galentines, Valentines, and Malentines Day celebrations.

February 2nd is also Wear Red Day, sponsored by the American Heart Association it’s a day that is intended to bring awareness to heart health. Wear Red Day kicks off American Heart Health Month. This is significant if your brand is focused on wellness, or offers anything in the shade of red (like a lip color).

A big gifty block of love occurs in the middle of the month: The happy pairing of Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day arrive on February 13th and 14th respectively. Galentine’s Day is a day specifically created by the mythical character Leslie Knope from the hit NBC show Parks & Rec. What started as a lark has become a full throated holiday (especially online) as a means of celebrating friendships. And of course, the guys are in on the fun now too with Malentine’s Day on February 12th in which it’s suggested that guys get together and do something fun like go paintballing, beer biking, or karting.

Mardi Gras on February 13th, and Chinese (Lunar) New Year on February 10th bookend the Super Bowl which is on February 11th. These 3 holidays are ripe for recipe, decoration, outfit, and makeup suggestions for editors, social media, blog posts, and email content.

Loads of celebrations happening in February!

For activist brands here are some dates to make note of:

A big month of inventions:

On February 26th there were 3 important firsts:

The first Color Motion Picture in 1909: 21 short films were shown at the Palace Theatre in London. It was the general public's introduction to Kinemacolor, the first successful color motion picture system.
